- 1 onion (Finely Diced)
- 1 or 2 garlic cloves (crushed or finely chopped)
- 400g Minced Beef
- 1 Tin Chopped Tomatoes
- Salt and Pepper
- 2tsp Mixed Herbs
- 1/2tsp Sugar
- 1 Beef stock cube
- 200ml Water (may need some more if it becomes too dry)
- 1 – 2 tablespoons of tomato puree.
- Dried Spaghetti (wholemeal spaghetti is better for you and has a nutty taste!)
Chop up the onion and garlic very small, and fry in 1tbsp of oil on a low heat.
Once the onion has softened add the mince beef and cook until brown.
Add the salt, pepper and mixed herbs and sprinkle over the beef stock cube.
Add the tinned tomatoes and stir, simmer gently.
Add the water if necessary, you need a good sauce but not too runny.
Add the tomato puree and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
Meanwhile cook the spaghetti as the pack instructions.
Serve with sprigs of fresh basil and parmesan cheese sprinkled on the top.
NB If you like a bit of depth of flavour add some Worcester sauce to the sauce!
