KS4 Computing Curriculum

Pearson BTEC Level 1/Level 2 First Award in Information and Creative Technology

The BTEC Award in Information and Creative Technology has been designed primarily for pupils who may wish to explore a vocational route throughout Key Stage 4. It has been developed to inspire and enthuse learners to become technology savvy producers of technology products and systems and to give them opportunity to gain a broad understanding and knowledge of the Information Technology sector and some aspects of the creative industries.

Assessment Methods

Unit 1 : The Online World - External Assessment by Online Exam lasting 1 hour

Unit 3: A Digital Portfolio - Internal Assessment by Assignment

Unit 6: Creating Digital Graphics - Internal Assessment by Assignment

Unit 9: Spreadsheet Development - Internal Assessment by Assignment

OCR Functional Skills ICT: Level 1 and Level 2.

Being able to use a computer is an essential skill and is required in most things we do every day. It is a vital component of travel, communication, media, entertainment and education. To enable our students to be prepared for the future, our ICT Functional Skills qualifications aim to equip learners with the confidence and ability to use ICT systems and tools, and find, select, develop, present, and communicate information.
